Food allergies - Intolerances

A food allergy occurs when our immune system reacts to foreign antigens found in food. A food allergy can exhibit various bodily symptoms including cutaneous, gastrointestinal, and respiratory ones.

A food intolerance is characterised as the difficulty in digesting certain food components, with the appearance of unpleasant reactions without however the response of the immune system involved.

In both cases having access to the right information and getting well educated is necessary to identify and isolate those specific foods that cause allergies or intolerances. At the same time the integration of alternative foods will give the body the proper nutrients it needs but which it lacks due to the limitation of dietary choices.
